MDTC Places 1st & 2nd at Gateway Flyball's Tournament!
April 16-17, 2005

Seiche (Paula DeTemple)
earned her FD

Disney (Mari Pavleje)
earned her FM

On Saturday, the team lost only one race out of six and finished tied with High Five's Get a Grip (one of MDTC lifetime member Patti Muraczewski's teams). Because our team beat High Five's in head-to-head competition, Great Balls of Fur was awarded first place.

The team lost only one race (out of five) on Sunday, too, but High Five's was undefeated and took first with GBF finishing second.

Although the team finished very well in the final standings, that is not usually how the team judges whether a tournament was successful or not. Two other areas are equally important. One is how the team ran, and this weekend, all the dogs ran consistently with very few mistakes. The other area is points earned toward NAFA titles. The team did well there, too, earning the maximum points they could in most of the heats they ran.

Two dogs even earned new titles. Seiche (Paula DeTemple), running in her first tournament, earned her Flyball Dog (FD) title, and Disney (Mari Pavleje) earned her 5,000th point for her Flyball Master (FM) title. Congratulations to them both!

Besides Seiche and Disney, the members of the team were Rosie (Kira Haslam), Betzi (Evan Emmons), Deuce (Marnie Hammerlee), and Ted (Karen Michalski). As usual, we couldn't have raced without our helpers, Sam Emmons who was our boxloader and Gail Wegner who recorded our race times for us. Thanks a lot to both of them.
