On Friday night,
Milwaukee Dog's sent a multi-breed team to a tournament for
only the second time. Multi-breed is always a challenge because
no two dogs
in the 4-dog line-up can be of the same breed. For this tournament,
Quest
(Pam Caldwell), Rosie (Kira Haslam), Kobi (Mark Anderson),
Disney (Mari
Pavleje), Finney (Fred Kauer), and Deuce (Marnie Hammerle)
hung in there
against some very fast teams to place 4th for the night.
Saturday was even more successful as Rosie,
Kobi, Duncan (Nichole Reiner), Xoe (Kimberly Follett), Deuce
and Ted (Karen Michalski) ran 8(!) races on a hot summer day,
and earned a well-fought 2nd place.
Sunday was double the fun, and just as hot,
as two Milwaukee Dog's teams (in two different divisions)
aimed to match the results from Saturday. And match them they
did! "Great Balls of Fur" (division 3), featuring
Maddy (Sarah Willems), Kobi, Rosie, Finney & Ted won 1st
place over 5 other teams, and "All Fur'd Up" (division
4) featuring Quest, Duncan, Xoe, Disney and Deuce, ran 6 gutsy
races and pulled out a 2nd place win. Of course, all of the
teams' successes also belong to every team member who helped
out during these three days, as well as those not running
dogs, Sally Haldorson and Vera Hammerle.
Several individual accomplishments should
also be noted. In Betzi and Evan
Emmons's first tournament appearance, Betzi ran several successful
practice
runs and looks like she'll be tearing it up soon in Amana!
Congrats to Quest
& Pam Caldwell as Quest achieved his "Flyball Dog
Champion" (FDCh) title in
Jefferson. And we can't ignore the on-going pursuit of the
unofficial title
of "Team's Fastest Dog"! Deuce & Marnie Hammerle
will try to upset the
reigning champions Teddy & Karen Michalski in upcoming
tournaments as Deuce
showed himself to be a worthy challenger by tying Teddy's
best time of 4.23.
And better late than never, congratulations
to Rosie & Kira
Haslam who, in Amana, achieved Rosie's "Flyball Master
Excellent" title!
