Milwaukee Dogs' Flyball
Team Participated in 3 separate tournaments in the Winter
Wonderland Flyball Tournament hosted by The UltiMutts in Madison
the weekend of December 10-12.
On Friday we formed a Multibreed Team (no
two dogs on the team can be the same breed) of 4 newer dogs
and 2 of our veterans. With few to no previously recorded
times on some of the dogs we found our team consisting of
Madison (Lab / Sarah Willems), Deuce (BC / Marnie Hammerle),
Quest (JRT / Pam Caldwell), Chance (Mix / Sarah Byers), Betzi
(Viszla / Evan Emmons) and Disney (GSD / Mari Pavleje) running
much faster than expected. Sam Emmons rounded out the team
as our Box Loader (his very first time in competition). With
a fastest official time of 22.12 seconds (fastest BO was 21.2),
the team broke out the dreaded 3 times and was relegated to
last place.
Saturday's Regular Division racing brought
out the best of our team who ran cleanly all day and brought
home the gold. Well, how about First Place and some dog toys?
The winning team consisted of Rosie (Kira Haslam), Kobi (Mark
Anderson), Disney (Mari Pavleje), Deuce (Marnie Hammerle),
Ted (Karen Mickalski) and Xoe (Kimberly Follett) with Mark
Anderson and Sally Haldorson sharing Box Loading duties. The
team recorded a best official time for the day of 20.56 (fasted
BO was 19.87).
Sunday's racing brought more success as
Milwaukee Dogs entered two teams in the tournament. Another
first place with a fastest time of 20.68 seconds was recorded
in Division 3 with Great Balls of Fur starring Madison (Sarah
Willems), Rosie (Kira Haslam), Kobi (Mark Anderson), Betzi
(Evan Emmons) and Ted (Karen Michalski) with Mari Pavleje
boxloading. Our second team, All Fur'd Up starring Deuce (BC
/ Marnie Hammerle), Quest (Pam Caldwell), Disney (Mari Pavleje),
Duncan (Nicole Reiner) and Xoe (Kimberly Follett) with Mark
Anderson Box loading brought home a respectable 3rd place
with a fastest time of 21.66 seconds.
The dogs earned a number of titles over
the weekend including an ONYX by Ted (Karen Michalski). This
is the very first ONYX awarded to a dog running for Milwaukee
Dogs' and Ted had to earn 20,000 points to get there. Other
titles received this weekend were Flyball Master Excellent
(FMX - 10,000 points) to Madison (Sarah Willems) and Flyball
Dog Excellent (FDX - 100 points) to Betzi (Evan Emmons). A
special thank you goes out to all of those who helped the
team run throughout the weekend including Sam Emmons, Trish,
Sally Haldorson and Ed and Patti Muraczowski of High Fives.
