Milwaukee Dog's Great Balls of Fur flyball
team made the short trip to
Madison on Sunday, December 14th for the Ultimutts flyball
tournament held
at Mad City Dog Training Club. Unfortunately, the team was
only able to
attend one day because of our club's prior commitment to Hounds
for the
Holiday on Saturday, but they arrived ready-to-run on Sunday.
Featuring a line-up of Rosie
(Kira Haslam), Maddy
(Sarah Willems), Teddy
(Karen Michalski), Disney
(Mari Pavleje) and Duncan
(Nichole Reiner), the team held its own in a double-round-robin
day of racing. They finished a respectable 3rd in their division,
despite not racing as cleanly as they'd hoped. Of course,
success is always measured in the joy of the dogs and teamwork
of the handlers, instead of the results. So, special mention
goes out to Duncan who ran cleanly the whole day and didn't
forget which lane he was in! Congratulations go out to Disney
and Mari for earning a new title: FDCH! And of course, kudos
to Rosie, Maddy and Teddy who run each heat like it's the
first of the day.
A great big thanks goes out to all
of the helpers that supported the team on
Sunday: Evan Emmons, Nick & Kathleen Hammer, and especially
our boxloader,
Fred Kauer, who showed us all the meaning of the word "team".
