Nisso Saves the Day
Well, I never thought my tracking training would come to such great use. We were training on the club grounds and the area around the Milwaukee river (it was Search and Rescue training). I had gone out without a dog acting as backup for some of the air scent dogs and handlers. We traversed the area along the river and up some really steep slopes. I got back to the club grounds and noted I had lost my $250 prescription sunglasses that I had in my pocket (just bought in September). Well, decided to see what my German Shepherd Dog, Nisso, could do. Put his harness on; took him to where I started and gave him my scent and said “Zuch”. He traveled along the river, followed my path, went up a steep hill. As I was struggling up hill (it was a second time up), I noticed he was lying down. I got to the top and there he was with my sunglasses between his front legs!!!!  What a dog. I was so proud and happy. He got a steak that day.
