Floor Care & Maintenance FAQ
Daily Clean-Up
- Last class of the day: Please vacuum instead of sweep
- Equipment: 4 new vacuums are available for efficient clean-up
- Spot cleaning: If you notice extra dirt, please use a wet rag or mop - NO paper towels
Accident Clean-Up Procedure
- Contain the mess: Dab up excess urine or pick up waste with paper towel (don't rub - it shreds)
- Place waste in bag and dispose in outside dog waste cans
- Clean thoroughly: Spray area generously with enzyme cleaner
- Wipe with a clean rag
- For bigger messes, repeat spray and wipe a second time
- Place soiled rags in designated dirty rag bin (likely in large crate room)
- Special situations: If a dog urinates on a post, remove the post cover
- Clean the "well" where concrete meets post gaps
- Clean the post cover thoroughly and reattach after everything has dried
Prevention Tips
- Watch your dog carefully: Be alert for subtle signals of nervous behavior
- Keep dogs away from posts when on the floor (especially male dogs prone to marking)
- Consider belly bands (boys) or panties (girls) for dogs prone to marking or accidents
- Report significant accidents immediately so additional cleaning can be arranged
Weather Considerations
- Snowy days: Wipe shoes thoroughly on rugs or change to dry shoes
- Muddy conditions: Clean shoes before entering Room 1
- Salt prevention: Keep salt residue out of training areas - it's difficult to remove from any flooring
Equipment Handling
- Do not drag equipment across the floor
Important Reminders
- The crate room has ceramic tile flooring - keep messy shoes there!
- While the rubber flooring is not delicate or immediately porous, proper care extends its life
- Clean-up buckets with detailed instructions are available if needed
